I am getting questions recently about TRUMP and his support of Israel. As a Bible student and theologian, recent developments are intriguing and a good source for thought and contemplation on Bible prophecy in the world today.
Earlier today, I was asked whether I thought it was a ‘big deal’ that Trump had announced the movement of the US embassy to Jerusalem in recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Well, since Jerusalem is to play a prominent role in the events of the Second Coming, I expect that Jerusalem will become increasingly important on the world stage. In Bible prophecy, Jerusalem will be the focal point of the Antichrist. A Jewish temple will be built in the city and then desecrated by the Antichrist in his bid to become the leader of the world. When that happens, all ‘hell’ will break loose on earth….
The prophetic clock is stopped for the time being until the church is removed from earth to a place of safety in heaven (rapture). Once that happens, the clock begins to tick and all the prophecies of the Bible in relation to the return of Christ will be fulfilled. According to Daniel in the OT and Revelation in the NT most of these prophecies will take place in a seven-year period called the “seventieth week of Daniel” by some and the “seven-year tribulation” by others.
The thing to keep in mind is that although the stage is being set for the End Time drama to begin, no Second Coming prophecy is presently being fulfilled. Eventually, the curtain will open for the ‘big show’ of the end times to begin. It could happen very soon or not for another 100 years. I think sooner than later, but no one can know for sure until the Church is rescued from the earth to safety with the Lord.
Until then, we are bidden by our Lord to “abide in Him” (John 15). As believers in Christ, we are charged to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18). As the church, we are to proclaim Christ in clarity and truth. “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).
